Monster Thursday!

Published by donnascott under Uncategorized Edit This

Hello, everyone! It was a very busy day at the Food Ministry today! We gave out 419 food boxes. That is more than usual, and boy could our feet feel the difference. We had some new volunteers today and I would like to thank them for helping get everything ready and for building boxes. I didn’t get their names but they know who they are! Let’s all be praying for Forrest Johnston, he has been feeling too well and had to leave early today. We love you! I hope he’s not driving Dolly too crazy, you know how sick folks can get :)  Bobby isn’t feeling too great either, it’s just been a yucky day. We hope the food helps everyone who got it, we know times are hard right now, and more places are laying off people and cutting hours, so it’s just going to get worse I suspect. If anyone has the urge to volunteer we would be proud for the help. Thursday at 8 a.m. is when the volunteers start or whenever they can get there, we’re not picky! I hope ya’ll have a blessed week. Bobby is going to start giving me a bible verse to include on here every week, so I hope that it will bless you in some way. Thanks, Donna

Happy New Year!

Published by donnascott under Uncategorized Edit This

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a very merry Christmas. We were closed for 2 weeks and we are expecting to be covered up next Thursday. Our hours for food boxes are every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We gave out Christmas bags of school supplies, candy, and toys to all the students at Copperbasin Elementary School and South Polk Elementary School. We also gave school supplies to Copperbasin High School. That’s about 2000 bags in all. I would like to thank all the volunteers who make this possible. They work long hours and do alot of work in a short amount of time. It can be very stressful. Thanks to Cheryl Brooks, Allen Cook, Steve Cook, Forrest Johnston, Anna Postelle, Ceil Simmons, Ann Curtis, Charline Montgomery, Joan Jones, Frank Fisher, Lucy Grogan, and the Scott’s (George, Amy, Melissa, Tara, Tamara, and James). The Rev. Bobby Scott and his wonderful wife Brenda lead the pack. Yes, they are my in-laws. That doesn’t change the fact that are incredible Christian people who will help anyone if they possibly can. This Food Ministry is their way of doing what God has laid on their hearts, which is to feed His sheep. Riverside is a family-oriented, Christian organization with a board of directors who love God and their neighbors.  I hope everyone who needs our help will feel free to call 423-496-3000 and leave us a message. We will return your calls. Thanks, Donna

Riverside Food Ministry

Published by donnascott under Uncategorized Edit This

Hello, my name is Donna. I am a volunteer at Riverside Food Ministry. We are a non-profit organization that gives out free food boxes to needy families. Signing up is very easy and we strive to make it a simple process. I know that sometimes it can be embarassing to have to admit that help is needed. I have been there and know that keeping your self-respect is important, even if you are experiencing hard times. Our store is located in Copperhill, Tn. If you are from the area or anywhere close we would love to hear from you and will help you if at all possible. Blessings.
